Welcome to the June edition of "What's New at Tailwarden." In this post, we’ll explore our latest updates, community highlights, and everything new at Tailwarden. This month, we’ve introduced some exciting features that we’re eager to share with you.

Tailwarden

Kubernetes Integration

You can now connect your AWS EKS clusters and track the cost and usage of resources at the Pod level. This granular visibility allows for better cost management and optimization of Kubernetes resources.

Resources Metadata

We’ve shipped support for resource metadata at the inventory and filters level. You can use this metadata to uncover additional insights, such as identifying EBS volumes that are not attached to any EC2 instance and incurring costs or EC2 instances that are not using Graviton.

Anomaly Detection

We’ve introduced a range of policies that you can set up to identify insights on cost, security, and compliance:

  • Tags Coverage Policy: Audit your cloud infrastructure to identify tagging coverage and naming convention issues, untagged resources, or inconsistencies.
  • Tagging Rule Policy: Set a policy to identify cloud resources that do not follow your tagging best practices, such as missing Owner tags or incorrect CostCenter tag values.
  • Risks Finding Policy: Create comprehensive risk assessment policies to evaluate your cloud infrastructure against industry-standard security frameworks such as PCI DSS, GDPR, and AWS CIS.
  • Cost Increase Policy: Receive notifications of unexpected increases in cloud resource costs, enabling prompt action to control expenses.

Ready-to-Use Templates

Monitor your cloud costs more effectively with our new dashboards for GCP and Azure. These dashboards come with ready-to-use templates crafted from best practices, focusing on the most expensive services to help you manage and optimize your spending.

Platform Improvements and Bug Fixes

We're constantly improving your experience with Tailwarden. This update includes several key improvements and bug fixes:

  • Widgets Improvements: You can now download any custom widget as an image, making it easy to share insights with your teams, even those not connected to the platform.
  • Weekly Cost Granularity: Introducing a new cost granularity option: weekly tracking. This feature allows you to monitor your cloud spending on a week-over-week basis.
  • New Widgets: We have expanded our widget capabilities to support horizontal bar, donut, and pie charts.
  • Expanded AWS Services: Our inventory now supports additional AWS services, including Firehose Stream, CloudWatch Metric, CodeBuild, and API Gateway resources.

Komiser

We've also shipped numerous bug fixes and performance improvements to enhance your Komiser experience. See the full changelog.

Upcoming Features

In the coming weeks, we'll be focusing on:

  • Introducing Budgets and Cost Savings on Tailwarden.
  • Supporting Azure and GCP resources in the dependency graph.

That wraps up our June edition. For more detailed announcements, be sure to check out the release notes and join us on Discord for more frequent updates. Thanks for reading!
