We are thrilled to announce the release of our brand-new version of Tailwarden. This updated version has been in development for the past three months and is the result of feedback and input from our valued users. In this post, we will be highlighting the key features, architectural changes, and future developments of the new Tailwarden platform.

The changelog page provides a complete history of all major and minor point releases including miscellaneous enhancements and bug fixes.

Developer Experience

In our initial release, we shipped an inventory of cloud assets to simplify cloud resource discovery, as well as a consolidated dashboard for cost optimization. To enhance the developer experience and support a wide range of cloud providers, we have added support for additional providers and improved the overall user interface, user experience, and performance to enable more developers and teams to use the platform.

We have also added a dark mode feature to our dashboard to provide developers with a more comfortable viewing experience.

Tailwarden support both light and dark themes

New Technical Stack

When we first released Tailwarden and Komiser in September 2022, the front end for both products was written in Angular. The decision to switch to Next.js was based on its ability to improve performance and load times through server-side rendering. Furthermore, Next.js has a large and active open-source community, which we believe will encourage more developers to contribute to our open-source product, Komiser. Overall, the stack change will enhance the user experience and make the dashboard more efficient and user-friendly.

What's coming up next

With this update, we have laid the groundwork for several new and exciting features, such as:

  • Support for additional cloud providers, including Kubernetes.
  • Customizable dashboards for teams and applications, including filtering and custom views
  • Built-in automation to improve productivity and simplify resource management, including Tagging and Audit Policies.
  • Enhanced security features, including Network and IAM analyzers.

The above-mentioned features are the key milestones of this revamp, and the main focus of our upcoming work.

We are dedicated to continuously improving our products and we welcome feedback from our users. You can share your thoughts by joining our Discord community or by suggesting new features through our public roadmap. Your input will play a significant role in shaping the future development of our products.

Thanks!

Huge thanks to the Wardens who have worked hard day in and out over the last 3 months to re-write Tailwarden from scratch. And big thanks to every single user that used/is using Tailwarden and gave great feedback and was patient with us while we fix, re-write and incorporate the feedback!
